Ray Greene was a men's basketball player from 1968 through 1971, and currently ranks sixth on Cal's all-time career scoring list with 1,606 career points. A dominate, exciting player, Greene was a member and star on the Vulcans 1970 PSAC title team, the first men's basketball state champion in school history. The 1969-70 Vulcans and Greene also competed in the NAIA national tournament in Kansas City. Greene, who netted 600 points in 1969-70, scored 51 points in 1970 against Lock Haven, and that figure is still a single-game school record. Incredibly, Greene averaged only 20 minutes a game while producing such impressive numbers. He was a two-time All American, a three-time All-Conference selection and the 1970 NAIA District 18 Player of the Year.

After his remarkable collegiate career, Greene was drafted by the Boston Celtics and the Pittsburgh Condors ABA team, but was unable to play because of injuries. Originally from Greensburg, PA, and a graduate of Greensburg-Salem High School, Greene is a service regional manager with United Parcel Services Customer Relations. He has been with UPS for the past 22 years as well as being a part-time basketball assistant coach and Sunday School teacher. Ray and his wife Elaine reside in Greensburg, PA, with their three children-Jessica, Tara, and Andrew.
