During that championship season, Dal Canton recorded an incredible 1.30 ERA, which is still a school and PSAC single-season record.
Dal Canton would go on to enjoy a distinguished major league career as both a player and a coach. He compiled a 51-49 overall record after 11 years in the major leagues with a 3.68 ERA. Dal Canton played for the Pirates, Royals, Braves, and White Sox. He was Kansas City's Pitcher of the Month twice and made 316 total major league appearances.

A member of the Western Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame and Fay-West Baseball League Hall of Fame, Dal Canton is originally from California, PA and a graduate of California Area High School.
