Physically imposing, Larry Randall was one of the finest defensive tackles to play at Cal U. He was a three-year letterman and all-conference selection from 1967 through 1969. Randall was also named a second-team, NAIA national All-American in 1969.
He was a driving force behind Cal's dominant defensive front. The '68 Vulcans went 6-2-1 overall and were the PSAC co-champions. Defensively, Cal recorded a 36-0 season-opening shutout victory over Denison that championship year and held divisional rivals Slippery Rock and Edinboro to one touchdown each. The following year, Randall and the Vulcan defense posted a 25-0 blanking of Lock Haven. Randall was a tri-captain on the 1968 and 1969 football teams. Extremely athletic, Randall was also a two-year letterman on the wrestling team.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Cal U in 1971 in elementary education and did post-graduate work at George Mason University. For the past 28 years, Randall has been a physical education teacher at Oakridge Elementary School in his hometown of Arlington, Virginia. Larry and his wife, Shirley, have two daughters and reside in Arlington.
