Connor Evans was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week for the second time this year on Monday afternoon.
Evans led the team with a .435 average and a .652 slugging percentage over six games last week while in The Sunshine State. He also totaled with five RBI and six runs scored while starting every game in right field. Evans collected two hits and two RBI on Monday in an 11-4 victory over Malone (OH). On Tuesday, the 6-foot-7 senior recorded three hits, one RBI and three runs scored in a 15-2 run-rule win against Minnesota Duluth. Evans then posted two hits, one RBI and one run scored the following day in an 11-5 victory over Minnesota Duluth. He added two hits, one RBI and one run scored in a 6-5 win against Northern State (SD) on Thursday.
A native of Mercer County, Evans ranks among the top 10 in the league with a .434 average (23-for-53) and a .698 slugging percentage. He is also tied for the team lead with 14 RBI and sits second with 14 runs scored while starting every game this spring. Evans has collected 10 extra-base hits this year, already eclipsing his total from 2025.
Evans becomes the third Cal player in the last two seasons to receive PSAC West Athlete of the Week honors multiple times in the same year.
The Vulcans open divisional play this weekend with a four-game series versus Pitt-Johnston, beginning with a home doubleheader at EQT Park in Washington, Pennsylvania, on Friday, March 20, at 1 p.m.
