GREENSBORO, NC (May 27) – California (PA) senior outfielder
Connor Evans became a consensus all-region selection after being named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-Region Second-Team on Wednesday morning.
Evans was tabbed a consensus all-region honoree after previously receiving accolades from both the National Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) this month. The Vulcans have produced a combined nine consensus all-region selections over the past four years.
In his second year with the program, Evans tied for first in the Atlantic Region with 71 hits and ranked second with six triples – behind only the national leader. He posted a slash line of a .392 average (71-for-187), a .429 on-base percentage and a .591 slugging percentage while primarily batting third in the lineup. Evans totaled 24 extra-base hits and finished second on the team with 37 RBI and 37 runs scored.
Evans, who shifted to first base in the last weeks of the season, appeared in 90 games with the Vulcans. He finished his collegiate career with a .390 average (175-for-449) across three schools, including a .371 clip (106-for-286) at Cal.
