NCBWA All-Atlantic Region Teams
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (May 15) – California (PA) senior outfielder
Connor Evans was selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) First-Team All-Region on Friday afternoon.
Evans received all-region honors from the organization for the first time in his career. The Vulcans have featured at least one standout on the NCBWA All-Region First-Team in four-consecutive years.
Entering the NCAA Tournament, Evans led the Atlantic Region with 71 total hits to tie for ninth-most in single-season school history. He finished the year ranked among the top 15 in the region with a .392 average (71-for -187) while batting primarily third in the lineup. Evans registered a 1.020 OPS behind 24 extra-base hits and ranked second on the team with 37 RBI and 37 runs scored. The Hickory product tallied an 18-game hitting streak from March 21-April 11 and closed his career by reaching base safely in 34-consecutive games – the program's longest streak in over two decades.
Evans finished his collegiate career with a .390 average (175-for-449) over parts of five seasons at three schools. He led NCAA Division II with a .440 average (66-for-150) as a freshman at Chestnut Hill (PA) in 2022 before totaling 18 at-bats at Kennesaw State (GA), an NCAA Division I program, over the next two years. Evans hit at a .371 clip (106-for-286) while playing 90 games over the last two seasons at Cal.
