California positioned fourth in preseason poll

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Jan. 29) – Following the winningest year in program history, the California (PA) baseball team was chosen to finish fourth in the preseason Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West poll, as announced by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

The Vulcans finished second in the divisional standings last year with 19-8 mark and closed the campaign with a 38-15 overall record. Cal won three elimination games in the PSAC Tournament and advanced to the PSAC Championship for the first time since 2010. The Vulcans also made the program's sixth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament last spring.

Seton Hill was tabbed as the preseason favorite for the fourth time in the last five years after collecting six first-place votes. The Griffins advanced to the 2025 NCAA Atlantic Super Regional and posted a 40-win campaign for the third-straight season. Slippery Rock received the remaining two first-place votes and was positioned second in the poll after finishing fourth in the standings last year. IUP ranked third and Cal rounded out the top half of the preseason poll.

In the Eastern Division, East Stroudsburg garnered six first-place votes to sit as the preseason favorite. The Warriors advanced to the NCAA National Championships for the first time in program history and finished the year with a 41-15 overall record. Millersville ranked second in the poll after earning the final two first-place votes. The Marauders captured the 2025 PSAC Championship, their second title in the last four years and the seventh in program history. West Chester was positioned third following a fourth-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, while Shippensburg was slotted fourth in the preseason poll.

Led by first-year head coach Joey Noro, Cal is scheduled to open the season with a three-game series versus Ohio Dominican in Washington, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 21-22.
