CALIFORNIA (Oct. 10) – Senior forward Amanda Heister (Palmyra, Pa./Northern Lebanon) scored two first-half goals and collected an assist on the game-winning goal to help left the Vulcans to a 3-2 victory over Bloomsburg on Saturday at Roadman Park in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Crossover play.

With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team moves to 10-3-1 overall this year. The Vulcans have now won double-digit games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 1992-94 campaigns. Meanwhile, Bloomsburg falls to 4-6-3 overall this season.

Heister gave Cal U a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute when she scored off a pass from junior forward Sam Regney (Monaca, Pa./Monaca). Heister then tallied her team-best ninth goal of the season off another assist from Regney at the 29:37-mark to increase the score to 2-0. The Huskies countered with an unassisted goal by senior Kelly Modes in the 40th minute to enter halftime trailing 2-1.

In the second half, sophomore Brittany Sullivan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketcham) scored the eventual game-winning goal – the second of her career – in the 69th minute off a rebound by Heister. Bloomsburg made it a 3-2 contest at the 77:10-mark when sophomore Kim Turner registered a goal off a feed from freshman Samantha Fox.

Sophomore goalkeeper Paula Jackson (Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmer's Trust) earned her ninth win of the year after making three saves in 90 minutes of play. The Huskies' Frances Nicoletti finished with eight saves in the loss.

The Vulcans out-shot the Huskies by a 20-11 margin, including 13-6 in the second half. Meanwhile, Bloomsburg held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Cal U returns to action on Wednesday, Oct. 14, when it hosts Davis & Elkins in non-conference action. The game is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start. Last year, the Vulcans claimed a 2-1 double-overtime victory against the Senators at Roadman Park.
