Volleyball tops Wayne State, 3-1

FINDLAY, Ohio (Sept. 6) – The Vulcans continued their winning streak by defeating the Warriors of Wayne State University 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-15, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team remains undefeated at 8-0 while Wayne State falls to 4-3.

Junior Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) led the Vulcans with 16 kills and seven digs. Middle hitter Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) accounted for 14 kills. Junior Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) added 38 assists, seven digs and four kills. Junior libero Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) led the team with 14 digs.

The Vulcans face the Knights of Bellarmine University (Ky.) at 3 p.m. later today, Saturday, Sept. 6.
