ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 25) – The Vulcans opened a four-match road trip over the next week with a 3-0 loss (25-10, 25-17, 25-18) against Gannon, the two-time defending-Atlantic Region Champion, on Friday night in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
NOTES
• California (6-8, 0-2) has lost 11-consecutive road matches in the series with Gannon dating back to the 2016 season.
• The Golden Knights extended their overall winning streak to 11 matches after entering the week as the lone team in the Atlantic Region to receive votes in the AVCA Top 25 poll.
• The Vulcans were limited to season lows of 22 kills and 36 digs over the three sets.
• Sophomore
Olivia Weiseman led the team with eight kills on a .233 hitting percentage and added a team-best seven digs.
• Junior
Lexi Muck finished with five kills on a .286 clip in the loss.
• Freshmen
Aubrey Bumblis and
Gracen Hartman, along with junior
Tori Newton, all collected five digs on Friday.
• Sophomore
Riley Evans was credited with three blocks (two solo) against Gannon.
