CALIFORNIA (Sept. 4) – The Vulcans opened the season with a dual-meet loss to IUP with three runners making their cross country debut in the Coal Tin Cup on Friday evening.
NOTES
• IUP won the dual meet with a perfect score of 15-49.
• California last competed in a dual meet when it opened the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons versus then-Wheeling Jesuit at Roadman Park.
• Freshman
Garret Minnick made his cross country debut on Friday and led the team with a time of 16 minutes, 57.5 seconds to place seventh overall.
• IUP sophomore Dominic Kuntz earned the individual title by one-tenth of a second with a time of 16:43.1.
NEXT
• The Vulcans are idle for two weeks before competing at the Penn State Behrend Invitational on Sept. 18 in Erie, Pennsylvania.
