CALIFORNIA (June 23) – The California (PA) men's cross country/track & field program placed two student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior
Kolby Kent and junior
Jordan Wiedman both received the accolade from the organization for the first time in their careers.
A native of neighboring Roscoe, Kent posted personal bests in multiple events during the track & field season and qualified for the award based on his season-best time in the 10,000-meter run. He holds a 3.85 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in mechatronics engineering technology.
Wiedman qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase after debuting in the event this spring. He boasts a 4.00 cumulative GPA while majoring in criminal justice with a concentration in criminology.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and rank among the top 50 in an individual event in their respective region on the TFRRS performance list. Additionally, each institution is capped at six nominees in the sport of men's track & field/cross country.
