LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Nov. 8) – Highlighted by a top-10 individual performance from senior
Jonathan Thrush, the Vulcans finished No. 16 in the team standings at the NCAA Regional Championships hosted by Lock Haven on Saturday morning.
The California (PA) men's cross country team totaled 400 points to place No. 16 at the event, which featured nearly two dozen teams from across the Atlantic Region. Shippensburg captured the regional title for the fifth time in program history, all since 2009, with 60 points after boasting a pair of top-five runners and four in the top 15 overall. Charleston (WV) placed second with 62 points, while Davis & Elkins finished third with 100 points after claiming the regional crown last year.
Thrush placed eighth overall with a time of 31 minutes, 2.30 seconds. He posted a top-10 finish at the regional championships for second-straight year and the third time in his career. Thrush sat in 14th place midway through the 10-kilometer course before climbing into the top 10 by the 5.7-mile mark. The senior received all-region honors for the fourth time in his career on Saturday.

Jacob McGhee finished in 68th place with a time of 33:13.50, while junior
Jordan Wiedman crossed the finish line in 34:05.30 to place 92nd overall. Senior
Kolby Kent ranked 119th overall with a time of 35:08.70 and junior
Jon Berzonsky rounded out the team scorers in 35:30.40 to finish in 124th place.
Fayetteville State sophomore Brian Kiprop captured the individual victory by 1.4 seconds with a time of 30:19.4. The event featured 158 total entries.
