Coleman Fletcher was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Fletcher earned the first complete-game victory of his career in Game 2 of the series against Slippery Rock. He allowed two runs (both earned) on five hits and two walks over 7.0 innings (100 pitches) on Thursday. Fletcher surrendered a two-run homer in the top of the first inning before limiting The Rock to just two runners in scoring position for the remainder of the game. The Moon graduate set a career high with 7.0 innings pitched after previously working 6.0 innings in each of his last three starts.
A 6-foot-3 sophomore, Fletcher boasts a 4-2 record with one save over 12 appearances this spring. He holds a 3.80 ERA over 47.1 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .239 batting average. Fletcher has worked at least 5.0 innings in all five of his starts this season and has posted a 2.7 strikeout-to-walk ratio as a starter.
The Vulcans open play in the PSAC Tournament on Wednesday, May 6, against Millersville at 11 a.m. The league tournament, which features a single-elimination structure this year, will be held at Jack Critchfield Park in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania.
