CALIFORNIA (Aug. 29) – A coach with experience at multiple levels, Josh Henderson was recently announced as the assistant coach for the California (PA) men's soccer team.
Henderson has worked with the Beadling Soccer Club in Pittsburgh in recent years, as well as Brooke County Youth Soccer in West Virginia. He also has experience as an assistant coach at The Linsly School in Wheeling following a stint as an assistant coach at the collegiate level at West Liberty.
"I am really excited to welcome Josh to our program. He is a young coach that is eager to learn, and he will bring good experience to our program both on and off the field," said head coach
Emedin Sabic, who is entering his 19th overall season with the Vulcans. "I believe that our student-athletes will benefit greatly from him on a daily basis. He has a lot of local connections with clubs that will also assist in the recruiting process."
Henderson has served as the Director of Operations in Brooke County since 2022. He started fundamental and skill camps for the program while assisting in recruiting, hiring and training various team members. Henderson has also been with Beadling in recent years, working to evaluate player performance through regular assessment, serving as a technical coach for both boys and girls programs and collaborating with coaches to design effective practice drills and game plans.
"I feel the California program is the perfect fit for me to grow and improve as a coach. It is a program that believes in success on and off the field. It's led by a well-known and respected coach in the Pittsburgh area," said Henderson. "The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) is renowned for producing quality teams every year. I'm grateful for the opportunity to showcase my skills and experiences to this program."
Previously, Henderson served as an assistant coach for two years at West Liberty in the Mountain East Conference (MEC). He later shifted to scholastic level and worked with multiple conference title teams at The Linsly School. Henderson also served as a coach at the club level in both the Wheeling and Fairmont area for several years.
Henderson earned a bachelor's degree from West Virginia in exercise physiology with a minor in strength & conditioning in 2015.
