Vulcans slotted fifth in preseason poll

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Aug. 13) – The California (PA) men's soccer team was chosen fifth in the preseason Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West poll announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vulcans finished last year with a 5-8-5 overall mark and ranked fifth in the divisional standings with eight points behind a 2-6-2 league record.

For the fourth-straight year, Gannon was the preseason favorite with five first-place votes. The Golden Knights went undefeated in divisional play last year before advancing to the PSAC Championship for the third time in five seasons. Seton Hill garnered the remaining first-place vote and was positioned second, while Slippery Rock was slotted third after advancing to the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament in 2024.

Bloomsburg collected three first-place votes to sit as the preseason favorite in the PSAC East. The Huskies won their first-ever league title in program history and finished with a 15-4-2 overall record, including 22 points on a 7-2-1 conference mark. Millersville received a pair of first-place votes and ranked second in the poll, while East Stroudsburg was slotted third after capturing the remaining first-place vote.

Led by 13th-yeard head coach Emedin Sabic, the Vulcans start the fall on Sept. 4 when they travel to face Wheeling.
