ERIE, Pa. (Nov. 6) – Facing the second-highest scoring offense in the country, the California (PA) men's soccer team closed the season with an 8-0 loss at No. 15 Gannon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Thursday afternoon.
NOTES
• The Vulcans finished the year with a 2-12-2 overall record behind a 0-9-1 mark in league action.
• Gannon extended its unbeaten streak in conference play to an impressive 31 games, as its last loss in PSAC West play occurred on Oct. 26, 2022.
• Six different players scored for the Golden Knights, which entered play averaging 3.06 goals per game this year.
• Freshman Enzo Rekka recorded seven points on two goals and three assists, while junior Rafa Hyde notched two goals and one assist.
• Gannon scored twice in the opening 12 minutes of the game and held a 3-0 lead at halftime.
• The Golden Knights netted two goals within a 90-second span early in the second half before finishing with five goals in the half.
• The eight goals allowed marked the most by the Vulcans in a single game in at least two decades.
