SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (May 8) – California (PA) seniors
Kat Henderson and
Tatum Hoffman competed in four events as part the heptathlon on the opening day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Thursday afternoon.
Henderson ranks third in the standings of the event with 2,859 points and Hoffman sits sixth overall with 2,776 points. The heptathlon features 16 entries competing in seven events over the weekend with the final three events set for tomorrow, Friday, May 9.
Henderson and Hoffman tied for the win in the high jump with both setting personal records of 1.66 meters (5-5.25 feet) on their final attempts at the mark. The height of 1.66 meters ranks as the fourth-best in the PSAC this season and was just two-hundredths of a meter shy of the NCAA provisional standard. The victory in the high jump resulted in 806 points for both Henderson and Hoffman in their heptathlon score.
A native of West Virginia, Henderson also established personal bests in both the 100-meter hurdles and 200-meter dash on Thursday. She posted a time of 15.61 seconds in the 100 hurdles and crossed the finish line in 26.67 in the 200 meters.
The Vulcans continue action at the PSAC Championships tomorrow with entries scheduled to compete in 10 different events, starting at 10:30 a.m.
