Schuessler sets school record at IUP

INDIANA, Pa. (March 22) – Freshman Anna Schuessler broke the two-decade old school record in the pole vault on Saturday, as the Vulcans opened the outdoor season at the Ed Fry Invitational hosted by IUP.

RECORD/VICTORIES
• Schuessler eclipsed the school record in the pole vault set in 2005 by Heather Jarjisian (10-3.0 feet).
• She cleared a mark of 3.40 meters (11-1.75 feet) on her third attempt at the height.
• Schuessler previously broke the indoor school record in the pole vault this winter.

VICTORIES
• Schuessler won the pole vault for the second time in her career, as she won the event once during the indoor campaign.

PSAC STANDARDS
• Schuessler registered a qualifying mark for the PSAC Championships in the pole vault.
• Fellow freshman Loreena Manser qualified for the league meet in the 400-meter dash after rounding the track in 58.23 seconds.

NEXT
• The Vulcans return to action at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational on March 28-29 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
