Vulcans finish seventh at PSAC Championships

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 2) – The California (PA) women's track & field team scored in four events on Sunday to finish seventh in the team standings at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships hosted by Lehigh.

The Vulcans placed seventh at the league championships with 39.75 points after scoring in nine events over the weekend. Slippery Rock repeated as the indoor conference champion with 153 points after tallying points in 16 of 17 events. Shippensburg placed second with 90.5 points and East Stroudsburg ranked third with 82.75 points.

Freshman Loreena Manser scored in multiple events on Sunday and earned All-PSAC status in the 200-meter dash. She placed second in the finals of the 200 meters with a time of 25.21 seconds to become the program's first rookie to garner All-PSAC laurels in the indoor event since the 2011 campaign. Manser also registered a season-best time of 7.74 seconds to place fourth in the finals of the 60-meter dash on Sunday.

Junior Alice Etienne received All-PSAC honors in the triple jump for the fourth time in her career. She reached the NCAA provisional standard by posting a distance of 11.81 meters (38-9.0 feet) on her last two attempts to finish third in the event. Etienne recorded multiple podium finishes at the league championships over the weekend, as she also placed fourth in the long jump.

Sophomore Gabriella Fralin scored in the 800-meter run by finishing eighth in the event with a time of 2 minutes, 24.16 seconds. She earned All-PSAC accolades for the third time in her career yesterday as a member of the distance medley relay.

Cal returns to action in two-plus weeks when it opens the outdoor season with entries competing at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Ed Fry Invitational in Indiana, Pennsylvania.
