BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 1) – The Vulcans scored in five events, highlighted by a top-three finish in the distance medley relay, on Saturday during the opening day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships held on the campus of Lehigh.
The California (PA) women's track & field team earned All-PSAC status in the distance medley relay for the first time since winning the event in five-consecutive seasons from 2014-18. The relay of sophomore

Gabriella Fralin and senior
Madison Murtland placed third in the event with a time of 12 minutes, 21.21 seconds. Fralin received All-PSAC laurels for the third time in her career and Murtland garnered All-PSAC accolades in the event for the second time in her collegiate career (2014 at Slippery Rock).
The Vulcans rank sixth in the team standings after totaling 19.75 points on the opening day of the league championships. The Rock, the defending-league champion, holds the lead in the team standings with 40 points after six events, while Shippensburg sits second with 35.5 points and East Stroudsburg maintains third with 32.75 points.
Junior
Alice Etienne scored in the long jump for the second time in her career on Saturday. She placed fourth in the event after setting a personal record with a distance of 5.50 meters (18-0.5 feet) on her fifth attempt.
Senior
Madeline Curtis also placed fourth in the 5,000-meter run at the PSAC Championships. She crossed the finish line with a season-best time of 18:02.82. Curtis has registered a top-five finish at the conference meet four times in her career, including twice in the 5,000 meters.
Fellow senior
Tatum Hoffman scored in the pentathlon after totaling 3,076 points over five events to finish sixth at the league championships on Saturday. She ranked third in the long jump with a leap of 5.21 meters (17-1.25 feet) and set a personal record in the shot put with a heave of 9.86 meters (32-4.25 feet).
Freshman
Anna Schuessler tied for seventh place in the pole vault while making her debut at the conference meet. She cleared a height of 3.35 meters (10-11.75 feet) on her first attempt at the mark.
Classmate
Loreena Manser qualified for the finals of both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash on Saturday. She placed second in the preliminaries of the 200 meters with a time of 25.33 seconds and finished sixth in the 60 meters with a time of 7.786 seconds.
Cal resumes action at the PSAC Championships tomorrow, Sunday, March, 2, when it competes in eight total events, starting at 12 p.m.
