GRANVILLE, Ohio (Feb. 8) – The California (PA) women's track & field team won five events while finishing second at the Bob Shannon Invitational hosted by Denison on Saturday.
TEAM STANDINGS
• The Vulcans amassed 117 points to place second in the team standings.
• Case Western Reserve claimed the invitational title with 119 points on Saturday.
• The event featured nine teams, including five schools from Ohio.
VICTORIES
• Freshman
Anna Schuessler won the pole vault for the first time in her career after clearing 3.35 meters (10-11.75 feet) on her first attempt at the height.
• Classmate
Brianna Lee posted the win in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet).
• Sophomore
Alessandra Peccon claimed the victory in the 60-meter dash by one-hundredth of a second with a time of 7.89 seconds.
• Freshman
Riley Tighe registered the win in the 200-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 26.80 seconds, topping the field by over one-tenth of a second.
• The distance medley relay of senior transfer
Madison Murtland, senior
Kirsten Gross, sophomore
Gabriella Fralin and sophomore
Rosalyn Perozzi won the event by over 25 seconds with a time of 12:46.38.
PSAC STANDARDS
• Schuessler reached the league-qualifying standard in the pole vault for the second time this season.
• Lee qualified for the PSAC Championships in the high jump for first time this indoor campaign.
• Freshman
Loreena Manser made her collegiate debut in the 400 meters at Denison and reached her fourth different conference mark this year after rounding the track in 1:00.30.
• Peccon and Tighe both qualified for the league meet in the 60 meters on Saturday with Peccon establishing a personal best and Tighe posting a time of 7.90 seconds.
