Wiedman earns PSAC Champion Scholar award

EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 25) – California (PA) junior Jordan Wiedman was named the recipient of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion Scholar Award on Saturday morning at the cross country championships, hosted by Edinboro.

Wiedeman currently boasts a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) through 100 credits while pursuing a degree in criminal justice & criminology with a concentration in criminology. Last year, he earned both U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honors and the Division 2 Athletic Directors Association (D2ADA) Academic Achievement Award for the first time in his career.

A native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Wiedeman became the third men's cross country runner in school history to receive the award since its inception in the 2011-12 academic year. The Vulcans have now earned the honor 22 times since the award was established, including four student-athletes who were recognized multiple times.

The PSAC Champion Scholar Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award and recognizes the student-athlete with the highest GPA competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 22 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar mirrors that of the NCAA Elite 90 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship final sites of the 90 championships across all three NCAA divisions.
