EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 25) – Senior Jonathan Thrush placed third at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Saturday morning to match the best finish of his career, as the California (PA) men's cross country team placed No. 10 at the event hosted by Edinboro.

The Vulcans finished with 250 points at the league meet, which was hosted by the Fighting Scots for the first time since 2018. Shippensburg captured its third-straight conference title with 40 points, led by four top-10 runners. East Stroudsburg placed second in the team standings with 78 points, while Kutztown ranked third with 94 points.

Thrush finished third overall with a time of 24 minutes, 51.7 seconds in a field of 154 runners. The Vulcans have featured a top-three individual finisher at the conference meet three times in the last four years, including Thrush in 2022.  Thrush averaged 3:06.5 per kilometer (5:00.1 per mile) over the eight-kilometer course. The 5-foot-10 senior captured All-PSAC honors a school-record fifth time in his career and has never placed lower than 12th overall at the league championships.

Junior Jordan Wiedman crossed the finish line in 43rd place with a time of 26:42.5 after finishing no higher than 65th overall in his two previous appearances. Freshman Jacob McGhee recorded a time of 27:13.0 to finish 67th overall, while senior Kolby Kent finished in 99th place with a mark of 27:53.2. Junior Will Berzonsky rounded out the team scorers at 102nd overall with a time of 27:57.6.

IUP senior Mike Formica claimed the individual title by just 1.2 seconds over two-time defending-champion Garrett Quinan of Shippensburg. Formica, who placed seventh at last year's championships, crossed the finish line in 24:39.1.

Cal is idle for two weeks before competing at the NCAA Regional Championships on Nov. 8. Lock Haven will serve as host for the third-consecutive year and the fifth time since 2019.
