Freshman duo reach standards at SPIRE

GENEVA, Ohio (Jan. 25) – Freshman Loreena Manser won a pair of individual events and classmate Anna Schuessler reset her own school record at the SPIRE Midwest Open on Saturday.

RECORD
• Schuessler broke the record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.45 meters (11-3.75 feet) on her second attempt at the height.
• She previously cleared 3.25 meters (10-8.0 feet) in her college debut last month to eclipse the school record that stood since 2010.

PSAC STANDARDS
• Manser set a season-best time of 7.79 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash.
• She ranks third on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Performance List in the event this season.
• Manser also reached the league standard in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.20 seconds while in Ohio.
• Schuessler qualified for the league championships in the pole vault for the first time this season.

VICTORIES
• Manser captured the victory in the finals of the 60 meters by five-hundredths of a second.
• The Virginia native also won the 200 meters on Saturday by one-tenth of a second.

NEXT
• California returns to action on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 when it travels to the Mid-Major Invitational hosted by Youngstown State.
