PITTSBURGH (March 30) – The California (PA) women's track & field team reached six league-qualifying marks over the weekend while at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, plus featured a trio of entries competing in the heptathlon at the Tim Weaver Invitational hosted by West Liberty.
AT CARNEGIE MELLON
PSAC STANDARDS
• Senior
Beyoncé Kelly reached the conference standard in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet) while making her outdoor debut.
• Sophomore
Alice Etienne debuted this spring in the triple jump and qualified for the league meet with a distance of 11.00 meters (36-1.25 feet).
• Junior
Taylor Timmons reached the league-qualifying standard for the first time this outdoor season by crossing the finish line in 59.95 seconds.
• Junior
Jing McCann registered a mark of 48.29 meters (158-5.0 feet) to qualify for the conference championships in the hammer throw.
• Freshman
Gabriella Fralin set a season-best time of 2:20.26 in the 800-meter run in Pittsburgh.
• Senior
Kailee Bunyard reached the qualifying standard in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.27 seconds.
INDIVIDUAL VICTORY
• Kelly earned the win in the high jump after clearing 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet) on her first attempt at the height.
AT WEST LIBERTY
NOTES
• Senior
Kat Henderson placed second in the heptathlon with 4,305 total points, which is the second-best in the PSAC this season.
• She reached the qualifying standard in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.81 seconds.
• Henderson won the shot put as part of the heptathlon with a distance of 10.43 meters, plus finished second in the long jump (5.29 meters).
