Beyoncé Kelly repeated as the indoor league champion in the high jump, while classmate
Kailee Bunyard and sophomore
Alice Etienne each broke school records, on Monday during the final day of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships.
Kelly captured her third career conference crown in the high jump (two indoor, one outdoor) on Monday. She cleared a season-best height of 1.73 meters (5-8.0 feet) on her second attempt at the mark. A native of Maryland, Kelly is the program's first field athlete to repeat as a league champion in at least 16 years. The 5-foot-4 senior also improved her rank on the national performance list, as she now sits eighth in the country in the high jump this winter.
Bunyard placed second in the finals of the 60-meter hurdles with a blistering time of 8.84 seconds. She eclipsed her own school record set in 2022 by eight-hundredths of a second. Bunyard also reached the NCAA provisional standard in the event for the first time this year on Monday. The Maryland native earned All-PSAC status in the sprint hurdles for the fifth time in her career.
Etienne finished second overall in the triple jump with a distance of 11.99 meters (39-4.0 feet) on her sixth attempt. She broke the previous mark of 11.94 meters (39-2.25 feet) set by Kailah Holmes in 2017 at Kent State. Etienne repeated as an All-PSAC honoree in the event while reaching the NCAA provisional mark for the first time this year at the league championships.
The Vulcans finished fourth in the team standings with 57.5 points after scoring in eight events at the league meet. Cal has placed fourth or higher at each of the last four PSAC Indoor Championships and six times since the 2015 season. Slippery Rock earned its first indoor league title since 2020 after finishing with 136 points by scoring in 16 of the 17 events. Defending-league champion Shippensburg finished second in the team standings with 106 points, while Seton Hill placed third with 58 points.
Freshman
Gabriella Fralin received All-PSAC laurels on Monday after finishing second in the 800-meter run. She rounded the track with a season-best time of 2 minutes, 19.57 seconds, which was over two seconds faster than her seed time.
Junior
Madeline Curtis scored in the 3,000-meter run at the PSAC Championships by placing fourth overall with a time of 10:21.43. She registered a pair of top-five finishes at the league meet. In addition to Kelly, senior
Kat Henderson scored in the high jump on Monday by tying for eighth place with a mark of 1.56 meters (5-1.25 feet). Henderson also scored in multiple events while making her debut at the league meet.
The NCAA Championships are set for March 8-9 in Pittsburg, Kansas. The Vulcans have reached NCAA provisional standards in four events this year.
