KENT, Ohio (Jan. 27) – California (PA) senior
Kat Henderson reset her school record in the pentathlon over the weekend, as the Vulcans competed in Ohio at both the Doug Raymond National Invitational hosted by Kent State and the Jim Wuske Invitational hosted by Mount Union.
KENT STATE NOTES
NCAA STANDARD
• Henderson reached the NCAA qualifying mark in the pentathlon for the second time this season.
PSAC STANDARDS
• Henderson placed sixth in the pentathlon, behind four NCAA Division I entries, with a total of 3,425 points – eclipsing her previous school record set last month by 28 points.
• She reached the league-qualifying standard in the high jump for the first time this year with a height of 1.55 meters (5-1.0 feet).
• Henderson set a personal record with a PSAC-qualifying time of 9.31 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
• Senior
Beyoncé Kelly placed second in the high jump after clearing 1.65 meters (5-5.0 feet) on her second attempt at the height.
• Sophomore
Alice Etienne improved her league-qualifying mark in the long jump with a distance of 5.39 meters (17-8.25 feet) on her third attempt.
• Junior
Tatum Hoffman improved her pentathlon score with a total of 3,012 points, which ranks sixth-best in the PSAC this year.
• She qualified for the league championships in the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters (5-2.25 feet).
MOUNT UNION NOTES
PSAC STANDARDS
• Kelly posted a height of 1.63 meters (5-4.25 feet) in the high jump on her initial attempt at the mark.
• Junior
Madeline Curtis qualified for the league championships in the 1-mile run with a personal-best time of 5:15.52.
• Freshman
Gabriella Fralin reached the conference standard in the 800-meter run after crossing the finish line in 2:23.33.
• Senior
Kailee Bunyard set a season-best time and improved her league-qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.20 seconds in the preliminaries.
INDIVIDUAL VICTORIES
• Kelly won the high jump for the first time this season while at Mount Union.
• Junior
Taylor Timmons claimed the victory in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:01.38.
NEXT
• The Vulcans are set to compete at three different events in three different states next weekend, stretching from New Mexico to Massachusetts.
