EDINBORO, Pa. (Dec. 2) – In her debut with the program, California (PA) senior Kat Henderson broke a 13-year old school record by winning the pentathlon with a NCAA provisional total at the Mike Kowal Multi on Saturday.

Henderson amassed 3,397 points over the five events to eclipse the previous mark set by Farath Raphael at the 2010 PSAC Championships by 28 total points. She won three events as part of the pentathlon on Saturday, topping the field in the 60-meter hurdles (9.45 seconds), shot put (11.88 meters) and long jump (5.44 meters). Henderson also finished third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 34.91 seconds. The West Virginia native competed at the NCAA Division III Championships in the pentathlon last season while at nearby Waynesburg, plus won the long jump at the 2023 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Championships.

Junior Tatum Hoffman and sophomore Bethany Conant also competed in the pentathlon at Edinboro. Hoffman finished sixth in the event with 2,946 points led by a third-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles (9.60 seconds). Contant was competing in the event for the first time in her career and totaled 2,462 points.

The Vulcans are idle for the remainder of the calendar year and will resume competition in January 2024.
