NEW CASTLE, Pa. (Oct. 22) – Behind a trio of top-15 finishers, the California (PA) men's cross country team finished fourth at Bill Lennox Invitational hosted by Slippery Rock at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds on Saturday morning.
The Vulcans placed fourth overall at the event that featured entries from nine teams with 93 points. Concord earned the invitational title with 38 points behind four top-10 runners. Host Slippery Rock placed second with 70 points and West Liberty finished third in the team standings with 92 points.
Redshirt freshman
Jonathan Thrush (Temple, Pa./Muhlenberg) finished in fourth place, and second among attached entries, with a time of 25 minutes, 38 seconds. He has recorded a top-five finish twice this season and has been the team's top runner twice in the last three races.
Classmate
Noah Bernarding (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) crossed the finish line in 26:09 to place ninth overall and senior
Mason Jobe (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem) posted a time of 26:14 over the eight-kilometer course to finish in 11th place.
Freshman
Kolby Kent (Roscoe, Pa./California) placed 33rd overall with a time of 27:26 and fellow freshman
Bill Folmer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) finished with a time of 31:07 to finish in 74th place.
Cal is idle for two weeks before competing at the PSAC Championships on Nov. 5 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
