LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (May 18) – The California University of Pennsylvania baseball team featured a league-high eight players selected to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Teams, highlighted by four first-team honorees, on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior third baseman
Louden Conte (California, Pa./California), junior shortstop
Jacob McCaskey (Tarentum, Pa./Deer Lakes), senior pitcher
Nick Riggle (Pittsburgh, Pa./Keystone Oaks) and senior utility
Anthony Venezia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) were each chosen to the All-PSAC West First-Team.
Conte set a career high with six homers and totaled 26 RBI despite missing eight games this season. He finished with a .288 average (30-for-104) and 25 runs scored, while recording a .558 slugging percentage. Conte also finished league play with a 1.000 fielding percentage (29 chances).
As a junior, McCaskey led the PSAC this spring with 48 RBI and finished seventh with 10 home runs. He also paced the team with a .357 batting average (50-for-140), 37 runs scored, 87 assists, a .664 slugging percentage and a .418 on-base percentage. McCaskey started games at every position in the infield this season and collected 27 two-out RBI.
Riggle earned All-PSAC West honors for the second time in his career, as he received second-team status in 2019. He finished with a 7-4 record and a team-best 3.47 ERA while making a league-high 12 starts. Riggle ranked third in the conference with five complete games and closed his career tied for the all-time school record with 23 victories.
A native of Pittsburgh, Venezia served as the team's primary leadoff hitter while starting all 41 games (21 shortstop, 20 second base). He led the team and finished third in the league with 18 stolen bases, plus ranked second on the team with 35 runs scored. Veneiza hit at a .279 clip (39-for-140) this spring, which was over 100 points higher than his career average.

Patrick Brogan (Pittsburgh, Pa./Our Lady of the Sacred Heart), junior starting pitcher
Dylan Brosky (East Millsboro, Pa./Brownsville), junior relief pitcher
Patrick Gumto (Allison Park, Pa./Shaler) and sophomore designated hitter
David Lee (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) were tabbed to the All-PSAC West Second-Team.
Brogan received the laurel for the second time in his career, as he was also a second-team selection in 2019. He finished second on the team with a .290 average (40-for-138), eight homers and 37 RBI while starting every game. Brosky led the team in victories, as he finished with an 8-1 mark and a 4.21 ERA with a team-high 55 strikeouts. Gumto posted a 2-0 record and four saves with a 2.41 ERA while recording 38 strikeouts over 33.2 innings pitched. Lee totaled 10 extra-base hits with four homers and 15 RBI over 34 starts.
The eight players named to the All-PSAC West Teams were the most for the program since the 2007 campaign. The Vulcans also placed four standouts on the All-PSAC West First-Team for the first time since the 2015 season.
