KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 30) – The Vulcans won five events on Saturday afternoon while closing their weekend road trip with a pair of dual wins over East Stroudsburg and host Kutztown.
With the victories, the California University of Pennsylvania swimming team improves to 6-2 overall in dual meets after posting a 4-0 mark in a pair of tri-meets this weekend against the Warriors and Golden Bears. The Vulcans claimed a 113-67 win over host Kutztown on Saturday and a 100-96 victory against East Stroudsburg.
Sophomore
Gabby Miller (York, Pa./Central York) posted individual victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle at Kutztown. She touched the wall in 25.55 seconds in the 50 freestyle to win the event by over seven-tenths of a second. Miller later won the 100 freestyle by over 2.2 seconds with a time of 56.47 seconds.
Junior
Rachel Kennedy (Aliquippa, Pa./Hopewell) earned the victory in the 500 freestyle on Saturday with a time of 5 minutes, 43.67 seconds, which was over three seconds faster than the rest of the field.

Stephanie Gfroerer (Wheatfield, N.Y./Starpoint) and Miller won the event by nine-hundredths of a second by posting a time of 3:51.32.
Sophomore
Antonia Gheorghita (Windsor, Ontario/St. Joseph's Catholic) registered a time of 2:07.19 in the 200 freestyle at the tri-meet to win the event by over two seconds.
Freshman
Emily Guffey (Pittsburgh, Pa./Bethel Park) placed second in both the 50 freestyle and 200 butterfly at Kutztown. She finished behind Miller in the 50 freestyle with a time of 26.31 seconds and touched the wall in 2:29.64 in the 200 butterfly. Fellow freshman
Autumn Christner (East McKeesport, Pa./East Allegheny) recorded a time of 2:43.90 to finish second overall in the 200 breaststroke.
The Vulcans return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 6, when they host a dual meet against Lock Haven at the natatorium in Hamer Hall, starting at 1 p.m.
