In Game 1, Mount Olive powered out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run, but the Vulcans managed to even the score up in the top of the third inning. Senior Giovanni Morales (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Joseph's Prep) led the frame off with a single and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a base-hit, before junior Matt Peters (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) drove him in with a sacrifice fly to tie the game at 1-1.

Justin Taylor (Julian, Pa./Bald Eagle) took the loss for the Vulcans in the first game of the twin bill. He allowed three runs on four hits and struck out three over five innings of work.

After a pitching change, senior Derrik Zeroski (Clinton, Pa./West Allegheny) drove in a pair of runs with an RBI single down the left field line to give the Vulcans the lead. Senior Zak Schmidt (Moon, Twp./Moon) followed suit with an RBI-single of his own to give Cal U a 6-3 lead heading into the final frame.
