CALIFORNIA (Sept. 14) – After a scoreless first half, the Vulcans erupted for four second-half goals, including two by junior
Chelsea Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford), on Saturday night in a 4-0 win against Clarion in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.
With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team improves to 2-2-1 overall with a 2-1 mark in league play. The Vulcans have scored a combined six goals in their last two games after being limited to two goals in the opening three games of the year. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles fall to 2-1-1 overall – all in league play – after opening the year with a pair of shutout victories.
Following a scoreless opening half, Crockett scored a pair of goals in a span of just over three minutes early in the second half. She scored her first goal of the year (unassisted) from just outside the box at the 52:51-mark before collecting her fourth career multi-goal game in the 56th minute off a feed from sophomore
Marissa Neifert (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff).
Less than five minutes later, the Vulcans stretched the lead to 3-0 with a goal by sophomore
Kara Novotny (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and assists from junior

Janelle McCann (Burlington, Vt./Tilton School). Cal U added an insurance goal at the 79:33-mark when sophomore
Morgan Bullock (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) tallied her first career goal.
Freshman
Meghan Jayes (New Albany, Ohio/New Albany) recorded her first career shutout while facing only one shot in 90 minutes. Cal U finished with a dominating 22-1 shot advantage, as Clarion didn't attempt a shot until the 81st minute.
The Vulcans are idle for a week before continuing league play on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they host Edinboro at 6 p.m.
