Box Score

CALIFORNIA (Sept. 24) – The No. 20 Vulcans extended their home unbeaten streak to 22 games with a 3-1 win in non-conference play against Shepherd on Monday evening at the Phillipsburg Soccer Facility.

With the victory, the California University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team improves to 6-2 overall with a 5-0 home record this season. Meanwhile, Shepherd falls to 1-4-1 this year.

The Vulcans took a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute when junior Stephanie Thompson (Queensville, Ontario/Huron Heights Secondary) scored her first career goal on a header following a corner kick by sophomore Erin Hogan (Beaver, Pa./Beaver). Following halftime, Hogan registered her second goal of the year – both game-winners – at the 47:01-mark. Cal U added an insurance goal three minutes later when sophomore Chelsea Crockett (Gilmanton, N.H./Gilford) tallied a goal with an assist from freshman Janelle McCann (Burlington, Vt./Tilton School) before Shepherd avoided the shutout with a goal in the 72nd minute.

Redshirt freshman Kristin Baierbach (South Park, Pa./South Park) earned the win in her college debut, while Rams senior Tessa Jones allowed three goals and made three saves in 50-plus minutes of action.

Cal U returns to conference play this weekend with a pair of road games, beginning on Friday, Sept. 28, at Slippery Rock at 3:30 p.m.
