GREENSBURG, Pa. (April 15) – Junior Randy Sturgill (Leechburg, Pa./Leechburg) tossed his sixth complete game of the season and the Vulcans rallied for six runs in the bottom of the seventh to claim a 7-3 victory against Seton Hill on Friday afternoon.

Seton Hill took the lead in the top of the third on an error before scoring a run in the fourth on a double steal. The Griffins expanded their lead to 3-0 in the seventh on a RBI single by designated hitter Michael Leviseur. The Vulcans then claimed the lead in the bottom of the seventh when they scored six runs on five hits and one error.

With the bases loaded, Cal U scored its first run of the game on a fielder's choice by pinch hitter Ben Carson (Coal Center, Pa./California) before senior right fielder Chuck Faust (Hershey, Pa./Hershey) scored on error by the Griffins' catcher. The Vulcans tied the game at 3-3 when junior center fielder Troy Handza (Glenshaw, Pa./Shaler) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and senior first baseman Adam Links (New Hope, Pa./Central Bucks East) collected a go-ahead, RBI single with the bases loaded. Senior left fielder Sean Welsh (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) and senior shortstop Casey Teagarden (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) each followed with RBI singles to stretch the lead to 6-3.

The Vulcans added an insurance run in the eighth when junior designated hitter Kyle Bowser (Stoystown, Pa./North Star) scored on an error after starting the inning with a single.

Links, Teagarden and Bowser each posted two hits in the win and combined for six of the team's eight hits on Friday.

Seton Hill starter Richard Raraigh (4-2) suffered the loss after yielding four runs (three earned) on four hits and four walks in 6.0 innings. He entered the game having allowed only one earned run 31.2 innings of work this season.
