MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Feb. 17) – In the first session of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, the Vulcans set a school record and reached an automatic-qualifying mark for the NCAA National Championships in a time trial on Thursday night at Cumberland Valley High School.

Kasey Travitz (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg), junior
Melissa Gates (Leola, Pa./Conestoga Valley), freshman
Jess Machmer (Canton, Pa./Canton) and freshman
Clarissa Enslin (Dalview, South Africa/St. Andrews School for Girls) posted a record time of 1 minute, 44.74 seconds in the time trial. The mark broke the previous school record set at the 2009 PSAC Championships and was five-hundredths of a second faster than the NCAA 'A' time.
In the 1000 freestyle, freshman Kate Mellon (Queensland, Australia/Mansfield State) touched the wall 12th overall in a time of 10:41.37, which is a NCAA 'B' time. Fellow freshman
Stephanie Bolt (Sundsvall, Sweden/Skvaderns Gymnasieskola) also competed in the 1000 freestyle and posted a time of 10:52.08.
