CANTON, Ohio (March 13) – In the final day of the 2010 NCAA Division II Swimming National Championships, the Vulcans finished 19th overall in the team standings and the duo of sophomore
Melissa Gates (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) and graduate student
Ester Bosch (Barcelona, Spain/Universidad Ramon Illull) both earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 100 freestyle on Saturday.
The California University of Pennsylvania swimming team has posted the best two finishes in program history at the NCAA Championships in each of the last two seasons. This year, the Vulcans accounted for 59 points to finish 19th in the team standings. Drury (Mo.) claimed the team national championship for the third time in four years with 657 points.
Gates finished ninth overall in the finals of 100 freestyle to earn All-America Honorable Mention with a personal-best time of 50.98 seconds. In the preliminaries, she touched the wall in 51.28 seconds to place ninth overall in a field of 66 swimmers. Bosch also earned All-America Honorable Mention in the 100 freestyle after posting a time of 52.49 seconds in the finals.
Bosch and Gates were also members of the 400 freestyle relay on Saturday. The relay team of senior

Kelly Geras (Reading, Pa./Muhlenberg) and Gates finished 24th overall with a time of 3 minutes, 34.76 seconds.
Freshman
Georgia Emert (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) posted a time of 2:08.28 in the 200 backstroke on the final day of the NCAA Championships.
