CALIFORNIA (Oct. 6) – The Vulcans recorded their second tie of the season after playing to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against Bloomsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play on Wednesday afternoon at Roadman Park.
With the tie, the California University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team moves to 7-2-2 overall and 1-2-2 in league action. Meanwhile, Bloomsburg snapped its two-game losing streak and improved to 3-5-2 this season with a 2-2-2 mark in conference action.

Ryan Grindle (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) gave the Vulcans an early lead in the 11th minute when he scored his fourth goal off a pass from senior
Spencer Crider (Orrstown, Pa./Chambersburg). Cal U entered halftime with the 1-0 lead after out-shooting Bloomsburg by a 9-6 margin before the break.
Midway through the second period, the Huskies evened the score at the 75:07-mark when sophomore Bryce Shaffer scored on a header after a long cross by freshman Michael Del Sordi. Cal U had the best scoring opportunity to break the tie in regulation when sophomore
Chris Moehler (Centreville, Va./Paul VI Catholic) missed wide after the goalkeeper challenged him near the top of the goalie box.
After the Vulcans were unsuccessful on four shot attempts in the first overtime, senior goalkeeper
Derek Yobbi (South Park, Pa./South Park) made a critical save on a penalty kick by Shaffer in the 103rd minute. Following the penalty kick, Cal U moved the ball down the field and freshman
James DelGreco (Pittsburgh, Pa./Seton LaSalle) missed wide on a one-on-one attempt.
In the tie, Yobbi tied his season high with seven saves and allowed his first goal in nearly 380 minutes, a stretch spanning over parts of five games. The Huskies' Bernie Roell recorded 11 saves on Wednesday, including nine in regulation.
Cal U finished the game with a sizeable 28-18 advantage in shots and was whistled for offsides 10 times, while Bloomsburg held an 8-7 edge in corner kicks.
