LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 28) – After scoring a pair of game-winning goals last week, California (PA) freshman
Ryan Moessner was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Moessner scored three goals, including two game-winning goals, as the Vulcans posted a 2-0 mark last week to open league play. He broke a scoreless game tie in the 64th minute on Wednesday to help Cal earn a 2-0 win at Pitt-Johnstown. On Saturday, Moessner recorded his first career multi-goal game with the Vulcans claiming a 3-1 victory against Slippery Rock. The Bentworth product scored the game's first goal in the 17th minute before breaking a tie in the 62nd minute with the game-winning goal.
A 5-foot-8 freshman, Moessner is tied for the team lead with five goals and ranks second with 12 points. He has helped Cal win back-to-back games in PSAC West play for the first time since 2021, while the program has started 2-0 in league play for the first time in two decades, spanning both single-conference and split-division formats.
Moessner received the weekly league honor for the first time in his career.
The Vulcans return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, when they host nationally-ranked and defending-PSAC Champion Gannon at 6 p.m.
