ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 6) – The California University women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 contest to Gannon University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play on Saturday.
The game between the Vulcans and Knights remained scoreless until the 87:21-mark when Katy Lynn scored the game's only goal on an assist from Courtney Rowan.
The two teams managed just one goal on 32 shot attempts with Gannon holding a 21-11 advantage in the shots category. Three Cal U players paced the offensive attack with two shots each, while Rowan led all players with five shots.

Erin Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Penn Hills) suffered the loss after allowing one goal and making a season-high eight saves on 21 shots. Gannon goalkeeper Sabrina Chirco earned the win after posting five stops in 90 minutes of action.
The contest marks the second-straight, one-goal loss for Cal U, who features 17 freshmen on the roster.
The Vulcans (2-2, 0-2 PSAC West) return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, with a divisional road game against Lock Haven University at 4 p.m. in Lock Haven, Pa.
