FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Aug. 29) – Juniors Ludmila Amaral (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Afonso Schimidt) and Lauren Price (Plymouth, Mich./Salem) led the Vulcans to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-14) victory over Lynn University (Fla.) on Friday evening at the third-annual Shark Classic, hosted by Nova Southeastern University (Fla.).

Amarl had a match-high 15 kills and 3.5 blocks (one solo), while Price had 13 kills and 1.5 blocks (all assists) in the win.

The California University of Pennsylvania volleyball team (2-0) registered 11 service aces, including five by junior outside hitter Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood), who added six kills and seven digs against the Fighting Knights.

Setter Renata Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Ateneu) posted her first double-double of the season with 42 assists and 10 digs, while libero Marta Hodge (Fayetteville, Pa./Chambersburg) paced the defense with 20 digs.

After losing the first game by two points, 25-23, the Vulcans seized momentum of the match in the second game after hitting .342 with 16 kills on 38 total attacks.

Lynn opened this year just outside the CBS College Sports Network/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Coaches Top 25 poll after advancing to the NCAA South Regional Semifinals in 2007.

Cal U returns to action tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 30, in the second and final day of the Shark Classic when it faces No. 24 Nova Southeastern and Barry University (Fla.).
