Chaz Ekoniak was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Ekoniak earned the accolade for the first time in his career as he became the program's first recipient of the honor since 2023.
A native of Ohio, Ekoniak finished second on the team with a scoring average of 73.7 strokes over 28 rounds, an improvement of two strokes from last year. He fired seven rounds of 70 or lower this season while carding a team-best finish four times. Ekoniak maintains a 3.52 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) while majoring in sport management studies with a concentration in professional golf management.
To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and have competed in at least 75 percent of the team's total scored events or play at the conference championship tournament. Additionally, each institution is capped at six nominees in the men's at-large program, which includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Ekoniak was chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot with the CSC Academic All-America Teams being announced next month.
