LEBANON, Pa. (Oct. 18) – Junior Nixen Erdely captured the individual title at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships on Sunday after chipping in for birdie on a playoff hole at Iron Valley Golf Club.

Erdely becomes the first men's golfer since the program was reinstated in 2005 to earn medalist honors at the league championships. He shot a one-over 217 (67-76-74) over three rounds and was tied with Pitt-Johnstown junior Lucas Smith after 36 holes. Erdely then earned the conference title with a chip-in birdie on the playoff hole. The Frazier product shot a two-over 74 in the final round with a birdie on the par-five seventh for the third-straight day. He tied for second in the field with 35 pars over the weekend while also tying for third with 11 birdies. Erdely tied for 13th overall at last year's PSAC Championships in his debut at the event. Previously, Charlie Durman held the program's highest finish at the league event since reinstatement when he placed second in 2012.

The Vulcans finished fourth in the team standings with a 30-over 894 (297-298-299), marking their fifth-consecutive top-five finish at the league championships. The score also marked the lowest three-round total for the program since the PSAC adopted a three-round format in 2018. Cal was the only team in the field to card a sub-300 score in all three rounds.

Gannon captured the league title for the second time in three years after shooting a 12-over 876 (286-301-289). West Chester, last year's champions, finished second in the team standings with a 21-over 885 (281-314-290) and IUP placed third with a 25-over 889 (305-289-295).

Senior Chaz Ekoniak fired a one-under 71 in the final round to climb seven places on the individual leaderboard. He tied for sixth overall with a four-over 220 (75-74-71) after leading the field with 36 pars over three rounds. Ekoniak previously posted a top-10 finish at the PSAC Championships in 2024 when he tied for seventh place.

Fellow senior Gavin Goodrich tied for 12th overall on Sunday with a seven-over 223 (75-70-78). He birdied the par five 13th for the second time this weekend after carding an eagle on the hole yesterday. Freshman Josh Nesky posted a 19-over 235 (81-78-76) to tie for 25th place. He shot a four-over 76 in the final round after birdieing two of his last three holes.

Senior Anthony DePietress finished with a six-over 78 on Sunday with a pair of birdies. He closed the event ranked 32nd overall at 24-over 240 (80-82-78).

Smith of UPJ was tied for 12th place after the opening round before climbing into a tie for third overall yesterday. He finished the final round with an even-par 72, including a pivotal double bogey on 18th that set up the playoff with Erdely.
