Bryson Lucas was voted the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Defensive Athlete of the Year for the second time in his career and highlighted a trio of Vulcans named to the All-PSAC West Teams on Thursday afternoon.
Lucas was voted to the All-PSAC West First-Team, while redshirt sophomore
Antoine Arnett and sophomore
Jordyn Buchanan were tabbed to the All-PSAC West Second-Team. All three players earned All-PSAC recognition for the first time in their careers.
A native of West Virginia, Lucas becomes the program's first multi-time recipient of the Defensive Athlete of the Year award since its inception in 2012. He ranks fourth in the league with 9.6 rebounds per game, fourth with 2.11 steals per game and third with 1.36 blocks per game. Lucas became only the fifth player in program history to eclipse the 100-block milestone last night in the quarterfinals of the PSAC Tournament.
Lucas leads the team and sits eighth in the conference with 16.9 points per game. He ranks fifth in the PSAC with 183 field-goals made and shoots 49.1 percent (183-of-373) from the floor, which is also among the top 10 in the league. Lucas has registered 11 double-doubles in his second season as a starter and sits third in the conference with 34:53 minutes per game. He was previously chosen as the PSAC West Defensive Athlete of the Year in 2024.
A native of New Jerey, Arnett ranks second on the team and among the top 15 in the league with 15.8 points per game. He boasts the seventh-best field-goal percentage in PSAC at .503 (165-of-328) and averages 5.5 rebounds per game in his first year as a starter.
Buchanan is averaging a career-high 15.3 points per game and ranks third in the league with a .380 three-point percentage (73-of-192). He sits fourth in the conference with 73 three-pointers made and averages 4.8 rebounds while playing 34:23 minutes per game.
The Vulcans continue play in the PSAC Tournament on Saturday, March 7, when they face Seton Hill in the semifinals at 7:30 p.m. The semifinals and championships will be hosted by Gannon at the Highmark Events Center in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Seton Hill has advanced to the semifinals of the PSAC Tournament for the first time in school history. The Griffins are led by two-time All-PSAC West selection Kendrick Curtis, who was also named the 2024 PSAC West Freshman of the Year.
