NEW ORLEANS (March 11) – California (PA) senior
Bill Folmer received U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) all-region honors in the 800-meter run on Wednesday afternoon.
The top-five individuals in each event from each region received all-region distinction, in addition each of the members of the region's top-three relay teams. The regions used for the award match those used during the cross country season.
Folmer ranked third in the Atlantic Region in the 800 meters with a season-best time of 1 minute, 52.86 seconds set at Penn State last month. The following week, he finished second in the event at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships to earn All-PSAC status for the second time in his career.
A Pittsburgh native, Folmer becomes the program's sixth different runner to receive all-region honors in the 800 meters since the award was introduced in 2011.
