Bill Folmer and freshman
Bode Layo both earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors on Sunday, as the California (PA) men's track & field team finished eighth in the standings of the league meet.
The Vulcans posted 27 points over the weekend after scoring in five events. Shippensburg cruised to its 15th-consecutive league title with 181.5 points after winning seven events. Slippery Rock finished second in the team standings with 102.5 points and Kutztown ranked third with 78 points.
Folmer earned All-PSAC status in the 800-meter run for the second time in his career. He placed second in the event on Sunday with a time of 1 minute, 55.49 seconds. Cal has featured a top-three finisher in the 800 meters four times in the past six seasons.
Layo finished third in the high jump while making his debut at the league championships. He cleared a height of 2.02 meters (6-7.5 feet) on the final attempt at the mark. Layo joins
Logan Pfister as the only freshmen in school history to earn All-PSAC honors in the event.
Senior
Jonathan Thrush scored in the 3,000-meter run while setting a personal record on Sunday. He crossed the finish line in 8:31.64 to place fourth overall, which matches his highest finish in the event at the league championships.
