LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Feb. 9) – Following a record-setting performance, California (PA) sophomore
Loreena Manser was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Manser shattered her week-old school record in the long jump at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State. She won the event with a distance of 6.04 meters (19-9.75 feet) on her second attempt, eclipsing the mark of 5.74 meters (18-10.0 feet) set last week after the previous school record stood for nearly a decade. Manser also placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.65 seconds, finished sixth in the finals of the 60-meter dash after running 7.73 seconds in the preliminaries and was a member of the 4x400-meter relay at Kent State.
A native of Virginia, Manser ranks first on the league's performance list this year in the 60 meters, 200 meters and long jump, plus sits fifth in the 400-meter dash. She is the first female student-athlete in the PSAC to clear six meters in the long jump during the indoor season since the 2019 campaign. Manser also ranks No. 10 on the national performance list in the long jump this winter.
Manser was previously chosen the PSAC Track Athlete of the Week twice in her career, including once earlier this season. She is the first Cal student-athlete in at least 15 years to be tabbed both the PSAC Track Athlete of the Week and PSAC Field Athlete of the Week during their career – accomplishing the feat within a two-month span.
The Vulcans return to action when they compete at the Indoor Pre-Nationals in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Feb. 13-14 with the event hosted by Norfolk State.
