Six Vulcans earn academic honors

CALIFORNIA (June 23) – The California (PA) women's cross country/track & field program placed six student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team on Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Emily Mahle, sophomore Loreena Manser, senior Jing McCann, junior Rosalyn Perozzi, sophomore Anna Schuessler and sophomore Riley Tighe earned the honor from the organization. McCann and Perozzi received the accolade for the second time in their careers.

Mahle set a personal best and scored in the high jump at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Outdoor Championships while ranking among the top 10 in the region this spring. She holds a 3.66 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in sport management studies.

A native of Virginia, Manser won a combined six titles at the PSAC Championships in 2026 and garnered NCAA All-America merits three times. She was selected as the PSAC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year after being tabbed the Most Valuable Athlete and Outstanding Track Athlete at the PSAC Outdoor Championships. Manser boasts a 3.900 cumulative GPA while pursuing a degree in health sciences with a minor in honors interdisciplinary studies.

McCann earned All-PSAC status in the hammer throw for the second time in her career and broke her own school record in the event. She also scored in the weight throw at the indoor league championships for the second time. McCann completed her degree in art with a concentration in secondary education and a 3.88 GPA, and is enrolled in graduate school to pursue a degree in studio art with a concentration in printmaking.

A native of nearby Belle Vernon, Perozzi captured the league title in the 5,000-meter run at the PSAC Outdoor Championships after finishing third overall at the PSAC Cross Country Championships in the fall. She has already finished her bachelor's degree in communication science disorders with a 3.99 cumulative GPA and holds a 3.98 GPA in graduate school while pursuing a degree in speech pathology.

Schuessler scored in the pole vault during the indoor league championships and ranked among the top 10 in the region in the event during both the winter and spring. She maintains a 3.64 GPA while pursuing a degree in health sciences.

Tighe received All-PSAC honors in the 60-meter dash in the winter before scoring in multiple individual events during the spring. She boasts a 3.97 cumulative GPA while majoring in criminal justice & criminology with a concentration in forensic investigation and cyber forensics.

To qualify for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a cumulative 3.50 GPA and rank among the top 50 in an individual event in their respective region on the TFRRS performance list. Additionally, each institution is capped at six nominees in the sport of women's track & field/cross country.

Manser was chosen as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and advances to the national ballot with the CSC Academic All-America Teams being announced next month.
