Manser shatters mark in long jump in Ohio

Results

KENT, Ohio (Feb. 7) – California (PA) sophomore Loreena Manser and senior Alice Etienne both reached the NCAA provisional standard in the long jump over the weekend with Manser shattering her own school record in the event at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State.

NCAA STANDARDS
• Manser reached the NCAA mark for the second-straight week, while Etienne reached the qualifying standard in the event for the first time this year.
• Manser currently sits No. 10 on the national performance list in the long jump this winter.
• Etienne previously reached the NCAA mark in the triple jump, while Manser previously cleared NCAA standards in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

RECORD
• Manser won the long jump with a mark 6.04 meters (19-9.75 feet) on her second attempt.
• She broke a nearly decade-old school record last week at Youngstown State with a distance of 5.74 meters (18-10.0 feet).
• Manser ranks first on the PSAC Performance List this winter in the 60 meters, 200 meters and long jump.

PSAC STANDARDS
• Etienne placed third in the triple jump after posting a distance of 5.99 meters (19-8.0 feet) on her final attempt, which ranks among the top 15 in the country.
• She also registered a mark of 11.56 meters (37-11.25 feet) in the triple jump while in Ohio.
• Manser reached PSAC-qualifying times in both the 60 and 200 meters at Kent State.
• She finished second in the 200 meters with a time of 24.65 seconds and placed sixth in the finals of the 60 meters after running 7.73 seconds in the preliminaries.
• Sophomore Brianna Lee cleared a height of 1.65 meters (5-5.0 feet) to place fourth in the high jump.
• Senior Jing McCann posted a heave of 14.76 meters (48-5.25 feet) in the weight throw.
• Freshman Amanda Mercurius set a season best with a time of 25.82 seconds in the 200 meters, while senior Madison Murtland reached the league standard in the 800-meter run for the first time this year with a time of 2:23.24.
• Sophomore Camille Neutzling crossed the finish line in 9.39 seconds during the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles.

• Cal returns to action at the Indoor Pre-Nationals hosted by Norfolk State in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Feb. 13-14.
